A few years back, something that I went through inspired me to develop this concept. Moving from my home to another country was a significant change in my life. It was like leaving my comfort bubble and stepping out into the unknown world. I felt trapped in this new space, with many thoughts running through my mind. I felt compacted and claustrophobic in this new life. It was difficult, as I had to leave everything behind and start something fresh. Making new friends, meeting new people, creating a space of my own, and adjusting to a different society were all challenges I had to face.
I always thought everything would settle down and I would feel at home again. However, I had to accept the reality, change my thought process, and gain more confidence to make things work and shine again. As I started thinking from a different angle, I saw the environment with different themes. Over time, I accepted the truth, and tried to change my thoughts by thinking positively, putting myself out there more, and working towards things that made me feel better and comfortable. I felt freedom and got accustomed to the fresh air around me. There was a boost in my confidence and a change in my perspective on life.
I was inspired by dark colors like red for my fabrics, which portray anger. The colors show the feeling of being trapped. I did Acid dye to get the texture and uniqueness. For the collection, I did my editorial photoshoot in pulaski square savannah. My prints will speak more about my story. Every look's theme in my lineup signifies Claustrophobic, Acceptance, Explore, adapt, confidence, and liberty.
